GrubStreet is thrilled to congratulate GrubStreet is thrilled to congratulate BWOC member Mydalis Vera aka Guerrera Writer! Mydalis's poems, "El Hurican/The Hurricane," "El Rio/The River," and "La Playa/The Beach," have been accepted for publication in the upcoming Climate Change issue of WORDPEACE. These pieces explores the intersection of nature, culture, and environmental change. She expresses her gratitude to GrubStreet, particularly to the talented instructors and the community of writers that she has encountered through their workshops.
We asked Mydalis how her time at GrubStreet influenced her accomplishment:
"GrubStreet is much like a backbone for writers. GrubStreet is steady, reliable, and often working quietly in the background, holding me upright as I navigate the expansive, sometimes overwhelming world of writing as a BIPOC creator. The workshops I’ve taken have been led by an incredible community of writers, bringing new experiences and perspectives from all corners of the world. GrubStreet has been a constant source of support and inspiration, reminding me that I’m never alone in this journey. I’m deeply grateful for the growth I’ve experienced and am eagerly looking forward to diving into even more transformative workshops in 2025."
