Dept. of Congrats Spotlight: Christine Murphy
GrubStreet is beyond thrilled to congratulate Novel Generator graduate and Novel Incubator alum Christine Murphy! Christine's debut novel, Notes on Surviving the Fire, sold to Knopf/Penguin Random House (North America) and Wildfire/Headline Press (UK/Commonwealth) for a simultaneous publication in February, 2025. Hebrew translation sold to to Kinneret Publishers. She would love to thank her wonderful Novel Generator class with Henriette Lazaridis and her amazing Novel Incubator class with Michelle Hoover.
We asked Christine how her time at GrubStreet influenced her accomplishment:
"I owe my entire novel to Grubstreet. Drafting it in the Novel Generator with Henriette Lazaridis and our class (nicknamed the Illusions of Grandeur) and ripping it apart repeatedly in the Novel Incubator with Michelle Hoover (mighty Year 11), I would never have had the courage to dive so deeply into my subject matter if not for the support of my brilliant and wonderful writing peers. Grubstreet gave me a community, which gave me strength, endurance, and resilience. I am so grateful."
