Class Description
Rainbow love and gender expansion to the front! If you’re an LGBTQ+ writer seeking a space for your identity and craft to converge, this writing group is for you. Join this class for a weekly low-stakes, light-hearted, and generative space to cultivate your writing. During our first session, writers will identify and share their intentions for the weeks to come. Based on writers' goals, we will co-create the structure of our weekly sessions. Sessions may feature guided writing prompts, looser un-prompted writing ""sprints"", writerly group therapy, peer check-ins, in-session readings and discussions, one-on-one meetings with the instructor, and reflective writing exercises. In all of our session’s elements, we’ll collectively consider how we can challenge writing conventions and queer our writing practice via approach, craft, and content.
Writers will NOT be expected to write, read, or do any preparation outside of sessions. Writers will be asked to prioritize their creativity, authenticity, vulnerability, and play in their writing (as opposed to prioritizing productivity and “publishable”/”good” writing). Writers of all genres welcome!

Zoom Participation:
In our experience, the intimate nature of a writing workshop benefits from on-camera participation. Students are of course welcome to turn their camera off whenever they need to, but it is a community norm for cameras to be on most of the time. You can learn more about using Zoom here.
Zoom Accessibility:
You can enable closed captioning at any time during the meeting by clicking the CC button at the bottom of the screen. If you'd like to access the transcript after class, please make sure to let your instructor ahead of time that you'd like a copy.
