Class Description

This class is free and you do not need to pay or apply for a scholarship. Instead, to join this class fill out This Form. DO NOT use any of the other buttons or links to apply to this class.

Join us for a comprehensive four-week workshop that aims to enhance your poetic creativity and refine your technical skills through various forms of poetry. In this workshop, you will gain a deep understanding of poetic form and learn how to use it to your advantage. Our focus will be on the Sestina, Villanelle, Duplex, and other forms, as we explore their unique properties and how to use them in editing, shifting perspective & refining your work. We will be learning the rules, but not to bind, For poetry is fluid, not confined. Learn them, break them, play with form. Our approach is centered on nurturing your creativity and challenging you to push beyond the boundaries of traditional forms. You will leave this workshop with a new level of understanding poetic form and how to break its rules to make it your own. You will further evolve your poetic abilities and have an expanded toolkit for your creative writing pursuits. This class is open to writers of all levels and experience.

Zoom Participation:

In our experience, the intimate nature of a writing workshop benefits from on-camera participation. Students are of course welcome to turn their camera off whenever they need to, but it is a community norm for cameras to be on most of the time. You can learn more about using Zoom here.

Zoom Accessibility:

You can enable closed captioning at any time during the meeting by clicking the CC button at the bottom of the screen. If you'd like to access the transcript after class, please make sure to let your instructor ahead of time that you'd like a copy.
