Class Description

This session is part of GrubStreet's Manuscript Month, a programming deep dive into the publishing journey. Learn more about Manuscript Month here!
Do you wish you could fully immerse yourself in your full-length project? Have you been seeking support and community as you go through the process of writing your novel? Whether you have a near-finished manuscript or you’re in the nascent stages of outlining and drafting, this four-week writing group will give you the push you need to refine your work and make progress toward publication, in the company of writers who are in the same boat.
Each week, we will engage in reflective writing exercises designed to help you think deeply about your work and writing process; work on your respective projects in digestible writing sprints; share the challenges and successes of writing a manuscript; read short excerpts of your work, and receive light, encouraging feedback from your peers. This writing group will focus on process and building a supportive network, rather than detailed, workshop-style peer and instructor feedback.
Please note that this group is not for writers who want to generate manuscript ideas from scratch, but for those who have already cultivated their own direction for a project. Writers interested in joining should have at least the beginnings of a novel-length project, whether that be an outline and clear vision, rough draft, or a draft in revision.
Join us for four weeks of regular accountability, structure, and community to propel your novel project forward!
Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Zoom Participation:
In our experience, the intimate nature of a writing workshop benefits from on-camera participation. Students are of course welcome to turn their camera off whenever they need to, but it is a community norm for cameras to be on most of the time. You can learn more about using Zoom here.
Zoom Accessibility:
You can enable closed captioning at any time during the meeting by clicking the CC button at the bottom of the screen. If you'd like to access the transcript after class, please make sure to let your instructor ahead of time that you'd like a copy.
