Writer's Block Isn't Real: A Class About Embracing Stillness

No Longer Enrolling

  • $85.00 Non-Member
  • $75.00 Member

Class Description

Many of us may have experienced what is often called “writer’s block,” also known as creative blocks. But what if this artistic phenomenon is fundamentally misunderstood? This class aims to help students reframe the concept in order to overcome or prevent future instances of writer's block.

The class will open with a short description of various ideas for writer's block and an opportunity for students to share their individual struggles and goals. From here, we’ll discuss writer’s block from a unique perspective that centers on a more comprehensive understanding of creativity.

Finally, the majority of the class will be dedicated to engaging in interactive writing and reading exercises designed to encourage a rethinking of creative processes that combat writer's block.

This class welcomes writers of all styles and skill levels.

Scholarships Format/Location

Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.
