Class Description

Sex has threatened presidencies, sunk marriages, and sparked billion-dollar industries. Sex has also, at one time or another, made all of us squirm. This is why writing about sex is tapping into a rich part of life which, too often, goes under discussed if not undiscussed. Additionally, being able to write about sex with confidence not only adds a new dynamic to one’s craft, it also brings new perspectives to one’s own life.

In this drop-in class, we’ll discuss what makes fiction and non-fiction writing about sex so essential as well as so difficult. We will also look at several examples of writings on sex, with the deconstruction of damaging stereotypes and the exploration of the joys of writing about sex serving as leading focuses. The course is geared toward writers of all skill levels and everyone willing to contribute to a welcoming and non-harmful space, especially for members of traditionally marginalized communities.

Families welcome. Coffee and snacks provided. Teens are welcome to attend with an older relative. We will provide simple activities to keep young children occupied.

Who Should Register?
