Class Description

There has never been a better time to be your own publisher, yet many writers fear the self-publishing process. How can you make sure your work is of a high standard? How can you spread the word when you don’t have a publishing house behind you? How can you stand out from other self-published authors? In this course, led by women who run an indie press as well as a self-publishing and marketing service, we will answer your questions and develop your confidence. Topics will include building and strengthening your brand, harnessing the power of social media, using free content to your advantage, self-editing skills, and making the most of the web. Expect to leave with a more positive, grounded outlook. Please bring up to 500 words of your manuscript along with you, for positive critique.

Zoom Participation:

In our experience, the intimate nature of a writing workshop benefits from on-camera participation. Students are of course welcome to turn their camera off whenever they need to, but it is a community norm for cameras to be on most of the time. You can learn more about using Zoom here.

Zoom Accessibility:

You can enable closed captioning at any time during the meeting by clicking the CC button at the bottom of the screen. If you'd like to access the transcript after class, please make sure to let your instructor ahead of time that you'd like a copy.
