Class Description

These are confusing, unpredictable and trying times–so perhaps as the autumn approaches, what you need is to commit or re-connect yourself to your writing practice! In this seminar, via discussion and exercises, we’ll inspire you to take the baby steps or big leaps necessary to realize your writing ambitions, and ground yourself again in writing, regardless of your genre. We'll debunk common myths about being a writer; talk about common issues like fear of failure, writer's block, and rejection; discuss how to make time for your craft, build a career, and define success; and outline the habits, tools, skills and resources needed to make a commitment. We'll also leave plenty of time to discuss strategies for staying connected (and sane) in today's pandemic and largely remote environment. By the end of class, you'll leave with a set of goals and an action with some accountability to make it all happen. Plus, you’ll forge new connections with a community of fellow writers. For beginners or anyone looking to re-inspire themselves as writers this fall in these uncertain times

ABOUT GRUBSTREET REMOTE CLASSES

GrubStreet will be hosting all of our classes remotely from now through the month of April. We’ve decided as a staff that the best thing we can do for our community is to follow the advice of public health experts, and participate in the social distancing that’s recommended to help slow the spread of disease. You will be able to participate in class via Zoom videoconference from wherever you’re most comfortable. All you’ll need is a laptop or a phone! You’ll receive an email from your instructor on the day your class is scheduled with a link to join the class meeting via Zoom–no need to download anything or sign up for Zoom in advance! If you have questions about remote learning, please feel free to reach out to [email protected] for more information.

For a glimpse at how remote learning works, look no further than the deep Zoom discussion of writing and literature below:
