Class Description

A competitive, accessible – and repeatable – MFA-level course, spanning 6 months, for ten short story writers who want to move their stories from “workshop good” to publishable quality. The class focuses on deep revision, a comprehensive, craft-based study of the story form, and offers a thoughtful introduction to the publishing market.

See the right-hand menu for more information about our submission guidelines, instructor, and students.

Date of Course: September 2024 - April/May 2025, depending on holidays/conference schedules, etc.

Note to students invited to register:

Once a student is accepted into the program they will be manually registered into the program. The tuition for the program is $4,395; however, this page lists a $0 tuition to accommodate a variety of payment schedules/plans individualized for students. These payment schedules are coordinated between each student and the Finance team at GrubStreet. Each student will receive email communications directly. Thanks!

Zoom Participation:

In our experience, the intimate nature of a writing workshop benefits from on-camera participation. Students are of course welcome to turn their camera off whenever they need to, but it is a community norm for cameras to be on most of the time. You can learn more about using Zoom here.

Zoom Accessibility:

You can enable closed captioning at any time during the meeting by clicking the CC button at the bottom of the screen. If you'd like to access the transcript after class, please make sure to let your instructor ahead of time that you'd like a copy.
