About Elena

Elena Britos is a writer, editor, and educator who has been teaching at GrubStreet since 2018. Elena has taught writing at Vanderbilt University, at community writing centers, and in public libraries. She is fiction editor at the literary journal Four Way Review and was previously the fiction and comics editor at Nashville Review. With a background in book publishing, she writes fiction, book reviews, and communications for nonprofit organizations. Elena holds a BA from Bowdoin College and an MFA from Vanderbilt University. Consulting Interests:  Elena is especially interested in working with writers to develop their literary fiction, including short stories, collections, and novels. She enjoys breaking down elements of craft (such as setting, dialog, or point of view) to help writers identify areas of writerly strength and areas for improvement. Beyond helping writers make broad improvements to their work, her years of experience as a professional editor and writer make her an asset to those looking to make line-level, granular improvements to their writing.

In addition to working with fiction writers, she is also glad to consult with people seeking literary journalism help (such as op ed writing) and ghost writing services.
