About Taylor

Taylor Imel is an essayist, instructor and artist based in Chicago. Born and raised in rural Indiana, she writes about the propensities of rural living and the women in her family. Imel was a 2021 finalist for the Conger Beasley Jr. Award for Nonfiction and a guest author at San Francisco’s historic Lit Crawl Walking Tour in 2018. Her work of prose 'My Mother is a Person' was nominated for a Pushcart Prize and awarded “Best of Small” by Hypertrophic Press, along with flash essay 'Paper Girl' the same year. Other works can be found with Driftwood Press, Zoetic Press and Into the Void among others. She lives in Chicago now with her two cats and works as a copywriter for ADWEEK.
