About Taylor

Taylor Imel is an essayist, instructor and actor based in Chicago. Born and raised in rural Indiana, she writes about the propensities of rural living and the women in her family. Imel was a 2021 finalist for the Conger Beasley Jr. Award for Nonfiction and read new work at San Francisco’s historic Lit Crawl Walking Tour in 2018. Her essay 'My Mother is a Person' was nominated for a Pushcart Prize and awarded “Best of Small” by Hypertrophic Press, along with essay 'Paper Girl' the same year. She lives in Chicago with her two cats and works as a copywriter for ADWEEK.
