About Autumn

Autumn Allen is an author, editor, educator, consultant, and children’s literature specialist. Her debut young adult novel, All You Have to Do (Kokila/Penguin, 2023), was a People Magazine must-read for fall 2023, a Kirkus Reviews Best Young Adult Book of 2023, a Black Caucus of the ALA debut honor award winner, and was long listed for the Massachusetts Book Award. Her second YA novel, You Only Live Twice, releases in July 2026. Her forthcoming picture books include Step on Board: Sculpting a Memorial to Harriet Tubman (Knopf, 2027), illustrated by Ekua Holmes, To Know By Heart: the Life of Omar ibn Said (Simon & Schuster, 2027), illustrated by Daniel Minter, and Answered Prayers (Knopf). Autumn is a senior editor at Barefoot Books, where she acquires, edits, and art directs picture books and board books. She teaches literature, creative writing, and publishing to students of all ages.
