Rayhané Sanders is a literary agent at Massie McQuilkin & Altman with over 17 years of industry experience. She began her career at Newsweek Magazine before moving to book publishing, working for Penguin Group USA and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, then for William Morris Endeavor, where she worked with veteran agent Dorian Karchmar and such bestselling authors as Amor Towles, Jennifer Haigh, Daniel James Brown, and Kate Jacobs. Rayhané began to represent her own authors at WSK Management, where she worked with bestselling authors and leading broadcast journalists, before moving to Massie & McQuilkin in 2014.
She represents literary, historical, and upmarket book club fiction; a wide range of narrative nonfiction; and select memoir. Her clients include bestselling authors Lidia Yuknavitch, Te-Ping Chen, Janet Beard, Matthew Gavin Frank, Daisy Hernández, and more. She is a member of the American Association of Literary Agents (formerly AAR).
As an independent book editor, Rayhané offers a variety of editorial and consulting services to help emerging authors polish their fiction and non-fiction projects—completed manuscripts, short stories, essays, and book proposals.
