Event Description
Imagination, empathy, research, lived experience: these are all things writers rely on at one point or another to create and deepen their stories. When it comes to transnational and/or multicultural narratives, engaging with these sources can feel both exciting and daunting. In this event, GrubStreet’s Artistic Director and Cuban-born author Dariel Suarez will host a conversation with Aube Rey Lescure, French-Chinese-American author of the critically acclaimed debut River East, River West, to discuss the questions, tools, and approaches they’ve engaged with to build a transnational or multicultural story. Whether you’re simply a curious reader or are looking to expand the possibilities in your own writing, this conversation should provide clarity, strategies, and inspiration to broaden your creative horizon.
NOTE: Aube and Dariel will be signing books after the event, and attendees will have the opportunity to mingle and network in our event space. Books will be provided by our partner bookstore, Porter Square Books.
