Event Description

Thinking of applying to the Essay Incubator? GrubStreet will host Q&A session with instructor Ethan Gilsdorf on Thursday, May 1st from 6:30-7:30pm EST both in person at our Seaport headquarters and on zoom. Ethan will answer any questions you have about the Essay Incubator, including the workload, the application process, what the program does and doesn’t entail, the schedule, the philosophy behind our approach, assessing if you’re a good fit for the program, and anything else you have on your mind! Please note that the upcoming round of the Essay Incubator, which begins in September 2025, will take place in person at our Seaport headquarters.

Session Format

This session will be hybrid, taking place in Seaport and on Zoom. If you're joining us via zoom, you'll receive an email from the instructor about 15 minutes before the session begins with a link to join the meeting!

Format/Location

This class will take place using Zoom videoconferencing. After registering, a yellow Resources tab will appear in this section containing a link to join class. Please note that you will need to be logged into view the Resources tab.

Zoom Participation:

In our experience, the intimate nature of a writing workshop benefits from on-camera participation. Students are of course welcome to turn their camera off whenever they need to, but it is a community norm for cameras to be on most of the time. You can learn more about using Zoom here.

Zoom Accessibility:

You can enable closed captioning at any time during the meeting by clicking the CC button at the bottom of the screen. If you'd like to access the transcript after class, please make sure to let your instructor ahead of time that you'd like a copy.
