Dept. of Congrats Spotlight: Milo Todd
GrubStreet is beyond thrilled to congratulate Novel Incubator alum and instructor for the Novel Immersive for LGBTQ+ Writers, Milo Todd! Milo's debut novel, The Lilac People, sold to Counterpoint and is expected to publish in Spring/Summer 2025. This work of historical fiction centers on a trans man who must give up the freedoms of early 1930s Berlin to live a life hiding in plain sight – first from the Nazis, and then from the Allied forces. Milo wants to thank the Grub and Novel Incubator communities, most especially Michelle Hoover, Julie Carrick Dalton, and the Season Sixers.
We asked Milo how his time at GrubStreet influenced his accomplishment:
"GrubStreet has played a major part in my writerly accomplishments. Novel Incubator Instructor Michelle Hoover's wisdom and guidance gave me the tools I needed to start an entire writing career, while the Novel Incubator community (alongside Michelle) continues to provide me with an invaluable support structure through the rocky terrain of publishing. (An additional big thank you to fellow Incubator alum, Julie Carrick Dalton.) GrubStreet also provided me with instructor opportunities of my own, through both the Muse and the Marketplace and their GrubStreet curriculum, which has significantly strengthened my ability to reach fellow LGBTQ+ novelists throughout the world. It's been a wonderful experience being part of the GrubStreet community and I thank them greatly for the opportunities they've provided me and countless other marginalized writers."
