ARCHIVE FOR Grub Street
Ahhh spring, the season of flowers, romance, venturing outside for what feels like the first time in months, and brand new GrubStreet classes. If we do say so ourselves, our new spring worskhop schedule is looking quite robust these days. You can check out the full, voluptuous spring term schedule online now.
Cool additions rounding out the schedule include courses like:
There's no getting around it: a good novel requires time. It also requires understanding the novel as an unique art form distinct from the short story. If you're currently drafting a novel, consider giving it the time and direct attention it deserves by applying for Grub's Novel Incubator program, a competitive and affordable MFA-level course for ten fiction writers that begins in May 2014
Inspired by feedback from previous Muse & the Marketplace conferences, GrubStreet has developed a new “conference-within-the-conference” – called the Marketplace Clinic -- that focuses on teasing out writers’ long term goals so they can be both strategic and authentic when promoting their work.
These sessions will take advantage of the smaller teacher-student ratio to build connections, grouping writers by project or stage, and offering individual feedback on each writer’s goals in the context of a larger discussion about mission, strategy, entrepreneurship, harnessing social media and other marketplace-related issues. You can learn more about the Marketplace Clinic here.
Looking to polish your work before an agent sees it at The Muse and the Marketplace? Want to get immediate, one-on-one feedback from a Grub instructor? Throughout this Day of Consultations, various members of our creative writing faculty will be meeting individually for thirty minutes with writers who have submitted 25 pages of their work ahead of time. All consultations will take place on Saturday, March 1st, 2014, between 11am-4pm. Deadline for submissions is 12:00pm on Monday, February 3rd.
