Class Description
If you’re interested in creative writing or dramatic performance, this is your chance to journey into the world of plays. In this one-day class, you’ll learn about what makes dramatic literature unique. We'll talk about traditional dramatic structure, seek out our characters' deepest wants and needs, and identify the rhythms of everyday speech to strengthen dialogue. Since the world of the theatre is ripe for collaboration, we'll work together to get our stories out of our heads and onto the page. You’ll leave with a better understanding of dramatic techniques and a plethora of new ideas to investigate.
Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.
