Class Description

Class Descriptions:

It’s April and that means it’s Camp NaNoWriMo! For the month of April, writers all over the world will declare a creative goal and spend 30 days writing their pants off. Camp NaNoWriMo is similar to November’s National Novel Writing Month, but with a fun twist: Camp NaNoWriMo is a writing challenge that lets you choose your own writing project and path rather than focusing only on a novel. The possibilities are literally endless: write a poem every day; create a graphic novel with your friends in one month; rewrite that novel you wrote back in November, etc.

This class will be a fun and generative write-a-thon day! The goal is to have fun, write a lot, and meet fellow writers. Equipped with prompts, fun writing games, and a sense of humor we will spend the afternoon “camped out” with our creativity and see where it takes us.

Takeaways:

If you have a specific April goal you want to work toward during this write-a-thon day, great! If you have no idea what you want to write but know you want to write something, great! You will leave class with new ideas and material, ready to take on the rest of April!

Who Should Register?

For high school writers age 13 - 18 ONLY. Writing notebooks will be available, but feel free to bring your own.

*If you are registering on behalf of your teen, add their email information in the “For a Friend or Child?” field on the right-hand side of the screen before you check out. This will send them a direct link and reminder to create their own profile with GrubStreet.

(After adding the class to your cart, click "Checkout" and click “Add” next to “For a Friend or Child?” on the right-hand side to fill in their email. This is an easy way of linking the class to your child and encourages them to create their own account.)

Parents/guardians must also complete this permission form online if your teen is under 18. **Note: unlike previous forms, you only need to fill this out ONE TIME, not for every class. If you cannot remember whether you have already filled it out, please email [email protected] and we will check for you!
