Class Description
The neighborhoods we call home are full of stories to be shared, and the rich details from our daily lives are all we need to get started. In this class, writers will call upon their own experience of living in vibrant communities to write about our neighbors, community members, family and friends in ways that show complexity and love, while also bringing others (our readers) into our worlds. Through discussions and writing exercises, students will leave class with new written work, helpful techniques, and confidence to tell their authentic stories. For writers of all experience levels, age 13 - 18 ONLY. We always end with a cross-class open mic where all sessions' students are invited to share and listen to each other's work!
