Class Description
Writing can be one of our most powerful tools in working through or exploring our demons and struggles. It's also a wonderful way to shatter stigma and raise awareness. In this class, we'll explore different ways to write about experiences with addiction. It could be your own, or someone else's. Whether you want to write personal non-fiction about it or you're writing a character who struggles, this class can help provide perspective and inspiration. We'll examine different works where the writer tackles the topic of addiction and do in-class writing based on the examples we read in class. You will come away with a better understanding of how writing can heal or represent the struggles of addiction and a sense of how to move forward with your own work.

Zoom Participation:
In our experience, the intimate nature of a writing workshop benefits from on-camera participation. Students are of course welcome to turn their camera off whenever they need to, but it is a community norm for cameras to be on most of the time. You can learn more about using Zoom here.
Zoom Accessibility:
You can enable closed captioning at any time during the meeting by clicking the CC button at the bottom of the screen. If you'd like to access the transcript after class, please make sure to let your instructor ahead of time that you'd like a copy.
