Class Description

Many authors, both published and unpublished, don't understand the inner workings of the children's book industry. The industry is shrouded in mystique, which harms authors every step of the way: from finding an agent to post-publication book promotion. In this seminar, you will learn about the various aspects of the children's book industry, from researching agents to working with publishers to partnering with indie bookstores and lots more! You'll leave the seminar with answers to your burning questions, as well as practical insights and a deeper understanding of the industry, which will increase your chances for success. This class will operate from an equity and justice framework and those with identities that are marginalized are especially encouraged to join!

Scholarships Format/Location

Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.
