Class Description
The key to a satisfying finale is a deep, sincere moment of reflection. Some refer to this moment as the "Dark Night of the Soul." It's the culminating moment for the protagonist to learn their "lesson" and determine how to move forward to achieve their goal (or not). Writing a culminating Dark Night of the Soul scene takes some truth-telling and vulnerability. Have you laid the groundwork to write a truly effective scene?
This class will explore how character and plot combine to create a strong and resonant Dark Night of the Soul moment in your story. We'll look at examples of how scenes have come together in different genres and explore how to make an impactful scene through dialogue, description, and character action.
Writers of all fiction genres are welcome. Bring characters and stories with you or come with a fresh idea.

Zoom Participation:
In our experience, the intimate nature of a writing workshop benefits from on-camera participation. Students are of course welcome to turn their camera off whenever they need to, but it is a community norm for cameras to be on most of the time. You can learn more about using Zoom here.
Zoom Accessibility:
You can enable closed captioning at any time during the meeting by clicking the CC button at the bottom of the screen. If you'd like to access the transcript after class, please make sure to let your instructor ahead of time that you'd like a copy.
