Event Description
In the face of ideological book bannings targeting queer and trans narratives, join us for a powerful discussion on literary resistance and the transformative potential of storytelling. This 90-minute panel will feature authors and industry experts shedding light on the impact of book censorship and celebrating the groundbreaking work of trans writers and trans-led presses.
Featuring:
- Milo Todd, GrubStreet instructor and author of the forthcoming novel The Lilac People, which explores the first trans book banning/burning
- Emily Zhou, award-winning author of Girlfriends and staffer at LittlePuss Press
- Calvin Gimpelevich, author and organizer behind T4T, a renowned monthly reading series showcasing trans writers
- Denne Michele Norris, editor-in-chief of Electric Literature, winner of the 2022 Whiting Literary Magazine Prize

Writing for Change events are free to attend and open to all. A pre-event reception will begin at 6pm and the event will conclude time for audience questions. Sales of the featured speakers’ books will be provided by our partners at Porter Square Books: Boston Edition.
This class will take place in-person at our Center for Creative Writing in Boston's Seaport neighborhood.
