Advanced Classes Deadline 5/20—Our advanced workshops are by application only and limited to 9 students to foster a closer and more rigorous learning experience, so your writing can get the attention, feedback, and support it needs.
Your generosity funds scholarships and free programs, allowing more teen and adult writers to participate in creative writing workshops at our new center in the Seaport, in neighborhoods around Boston, and online.
Check out our upcoming classes that are FREE and open to the public through our Write Down the Street Program offered in partnership with the Boston Public Library Branches in Mattapan, Grove Hall, and more.

Grubbies Serina Gousby (Program Manager of the Boston Writers of Color Group), Theresa Okokon (Instructor and Memoir and Essay Incubator Alum), and Nakia Hill (Teaching Fellow) were recently featured in an article titled, "Books to read this Black History Month, according to 3 Boston writers."
GrubStreet is thrilled to attend the 2024 AWP Conference, where our staff members Dariel Suarez (Artistic Director) & Travon Godette (Manager of Youth Programs) will be presenting panels titled "Creating Literary Community for All: Literary Centers and Reaching the Underserved (T120)" and "Write On! Literary Centers on Fostering Sustainable Youth Communities (T229)" respectively.
As part of our mission to make sure that voices of every type and talent are heard, we developed the Emerging Writer Fellowship to eliminate some of the financial barriers to entry. Through this program, we hope to connect writers to a literary world – a world made richer and more relevant with the contribution of these voices.
The Boston Writers of Color Literary Support Program offers stipends for BIPOC writers to be used for submissions, contests, fellowships, retreats, writing supply expenses, and any other literary opportunities. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and will be reviewed every three weeks from the time of submission.
Every month, we celebrate the successes of our community members! This month, Grubbies were published in literary journals across the country, won awards and prizes, secured book deals, and so much more. We are proud to announce in September 2023 we had thirty-four publications, four awards and prizes, and four book publications! Let us celebrate you: submit your good news to GrubStreet’s Department of Congratulations.
We want to welcome this year's new teaching fellows, Jacquinn Sinclair and Jonathan Todd! These two amazing writers and individuals will be joining us for the upcoming year as instructors.
