Class Description

Whether you've never written creatively before or you're a more experienced writer looking for a recharge, your mission in this course is simple: start off 2024 by devoting three hours of your week to writing. Through a series of engaging writing exercises, we will mine our experiences and imagination for material and bring what we find to life on the page, constructing characters and settings, shaping vivid dialogue, creating imagery, and exploring the nuances of voice. A large portion of the class will be dedicated to exercises that promote ‘writing on our feet,’ and focus on removing hesitation and self-critique in our writing practice. With an eye on craft and an openness to inspiration, as we enter the new year, we will read and discuss short pieces (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and more) by a variety of writers.

Scholarships Format/Location

Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button.
