Class Description

In this six-week online course, we will explore the dynamics of both storytelling and screenwriting. You will learn the conventions of screenwriting -- formatting, structure, dialogue, and conflict -- as well as how to craft a compelling narrative. We’ll support and reinforce those crucial screenwriting concepts with weekly exercises, and you’ll put these skills to use by kicking off a draft of your own original feature film or television series. We will discuss each other's scripts, and you’ll also receive instructor insight and feedback on story construction and the screenplay format. Expect to be put to work and learn a ton!

Scholarships Format/Location

Thanks to the excellent literary citizenship of our donors, scholarships are available for all GrubStreet classes. To apply, click the gray "APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP" button. In order to be considered for a scholarship, you must complete your application at least one week before the start date of a class. Please await our scholarship committee's decision before registering for the class. We cannot hold spots in classes, so the sooner you apply, the better. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.
