Writers of Color

Get involved in Boston’s diverse writing community!

The Boston Writers of Color (BWoC) group is supported by GrubStreet, and is a place for writers of color to connect, network, empower, and share resources with their peers. Our mission is to support self-identifying writers of color and to help foster a more diverse and inclusive writing community here in Boston and a more equitable publishing landscape.

All writers are welcome, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, religion or ethnicity.

UPDATE: To keep our community safe, GrubStreet will not be hosting in-person gatherings through the end of April. We’ll update you in next month’s newsletter with plans for May and beyond. Join our mailing list to find out more updates. While we’re very sad about this, we're offering new scholarships for submission fee support to BWoC members during this time. Please apply — we hope that this support will help keep your writing life going throughout these coming weeks. We will notify all applicants by April 22nd.

What We Do:

  • Day-long Retreats
  • Quarterly socials
  • Submit-a-thons
  • Talks with authors and editors
  • Readings
  • Workshops and more!

Ways to get involved:

  1. Find us on Facebook
  2. Join us on MeetUp.
  3. Sign up for our mailing list.
