Have you ever wondered how books get published? Or who works behind the scenes to bring great stories to life? Are you curious about different careers out there for writers and book lovers like you?

Join us on February 4!

EmersonWrites and GrubStreet are teaming up for a fun, informative, FREE event for our teen writers. You’ll learn the ins and outs of book publishing, connect with teens and professionals who are passionate about books, and discover bookish careers that might be fit for you!

When: Saturday, February 4, 12-2pm

Where: Emerson College, 180 Tremont St, 5th floor

(Around the corner from GrubStreet/across from the Boylston St Station on the Green Line)

What: Hear from Boston professionals who specialize in creating books for kids and teens. The panel will include an author, an illustrator/designer, an editor, a publicist, a bookseller, and a reviewer. They’ll answer questions like:

  • How does a promising story become an actual book?
  • Who decides which stories get published and on shelves?
  • Who designs and assembles the physical books we read?
  • Who handles the business end of things?
  • What types of publishing jobs suit different skills and personalities?

There will be plenty of time to ask questions and chat with the professionals. Lunch will be provided, and everyone who attends will have a chance to win advanced copies of new (not-yet-released) books.

Who: Teens 13-18 are invited to attend. Register here for FREE!
