Young Adult Writers Program (YAWP): Slam Poetry

This is not your average poetry class. Slam poetry uniquely combines elements of drama, poetry, oral storytelling, and hip hop spoken word to create one of the most engaging new forms of self-expression. Taught by Regie Gibson, winner of the 1998 National Slam Competition, this workshop will show you how to breathe new life into your writing and how to express yourself succinctly, passionately and with confidence.

The Slam Poetry class will take place from 12:00pm-3:00pm. From 3:00pm-5:00pm, registered students will have the opportunity to audition for GrubStreet's Teen Slam Team. [AUDITIONS RESCHEDULED.
