Class Description: How often are we battling with the voices in our heads? How often are we trying to silence the voices that limits our creativity? This workshop creates a space for writers to explore their minds and fight back against oppression in their daily lives, writing. This interactive workshop will urge writers to analyze the root of the voices that "live" in our heads and bring them to a forefront in their work. This workshop is rooted in the pedagogical and political principles specific to the popular education method developed by Brazilian educator Paulo Freire and later expanded in Augustoa Boal's work in Theatre of the Oppressed.

Takeaways: Writers will leave the class with clarity on who the voices in their heads are and how they limit our creativity, they will engage with activities that reveal the root causes while learning how to release themselves from the power of these voices and then students will begin the process of transformation for their own lives.

Who Should Register?
For writers ages 13 - 18 ONLY. Writing notebooks are available, but feel free to bring your own.

Remember, parents/guardians must also complete this permission form online before the start of the class. Otherwise, registrations could be voided and the cancellation policy will apply. If the student is 18, simply let us know at [email protected]

*If you are registering on behalf of your teen, add their email information in the “For a Friend or Child?” field on the right-hand side of the screen before you check out. This will send them a direct link and reminder to create their own profile with GrubStreet.
