Class Description:

Knowing your audience is important but what about the story in your heart, just dying to come out? We often dwell on the reception of our writing but that creates a pressure to perform for our audience in a way that forsakes our unique perspectives. But ask yourself what might happen if your wrote with yourself as the target audience? When you are thrilled about what you write, it will come through to your audience; your audience wants to read what YOU are capable of after all!

In this class, students will learn to write with authenticity, showcasing the full potential of their voice. Such genuineness and heart will be your secret weapon to telling satisfying stories and building a sustainable creative practice. For writers age 13 - 18 ONLY.

Students will identify methods of tapping into joy, experimenting with tone and style, and honoring intuition and desire as a storyteller, all to encourage an authentic writing practice.

Class Format:

This class will take place in-person at our Center for Creative Writing in Boston's Seaport neighborhood. Students who need an MBTA pass to commute to class can request one using this form. Snacks, pens, notebooks, chromebooks, and post-class pizza will be provided!
