In this seminar, we will examine how the writing process can serve as a healing tool for adversity and trauma. The course will include an overview of what healing through writing is, and we will look at examples of essays and articles that showcase authors' journeys through grief, addiction, abuse, illness, and war. We will do an in-class prompt that will get students thinking about their own healing narratives. Students will leave the class with an understanding of what effective healing through writing looks like and the tools to proceed with their own narratives.
