Writing Fiction in the Digital Age
130.00
In this one-day course, we will be writing our way towards stories that reckon with our Internet age in some meaningful way--both in content and form. This will include class discussions about our relationship to technology, brainstorming exercises to help find the heart of the story, craft-related handouts that offer perspective on how the Internet has changed the landscape of fiction, a look at a contemporary short story that deals with these questions in an exciting way, time to write, one-on-one instructor feedback on the story-in-progress--all culminating in an informal but productive workshop.
This class is for anyone who feels that the Internet has a huge impact on their life and wants to explore that in their fiction. Students can expect to come away from the class with a greater understanding of how fiction is responding to the Internet age, a sense of the new and exciting forms that stories can take, and significant progress towards a story that shows exactly what's at stake for the writer living in these times.
