WDtS Mattapan: Writing Difficulties
Journalism has long asserted, “If it bleeds, it leads.” Not only is there no shortage of difficult stories in the world but there is also no shortage of publications vying for your attention with difficult stories.
So, in a world where there are so many important matters to discuss, how do you write in a way which inspires people to care? In this drop-in class, we’ll explore what makes for a compelling piece of writing on a difficult topic by examining articles, essays, speeches, and even tweets which have grabbed people’s hearts. We’ll also begin work on our own compelling pieces.
Families welcome. Coffee and snacks provided. Teens are welcome to attend with an older relative. We will provide simple activities to keep young children occupied.
