Have you struggled with point of view, perspective, and narration? If so, you're not alone! In this session, we'll define these important story elements, uncover how they impact your story, and review ways to use them to your advantage. We will take a deeper look at how point of view, perspective, and narration impact your story. We’ll focus on using POV as a framework for how your story will be told. We’ll review examples designed to help you choose the right narrative voice for your story. You’ll be able to practice these techniques right away with short writing prompts.

This session is for fiction writers who want a deep dive into POV and narration as a framework for how your story will be told. We'll review excerpts from authors such as Sally Rooney, Weike Wang, Violet Kupersmith, and we'll set up guidelines designed to help you choose the right narrative voice and POV. You'll come away with a better understanding of these story elements, improve your story, and have fun too!

Please note: Class does not meet July 4th.

Class Format

This class will take place using Zoom videoconferencing. About 15 minutes before your class is scheduled to begin, you'll receive an email from your instructor with a link to join the class meeting!
