Build your own world one word at a time! In this generative multi-week workshop, we will be diving into all five of the senses of the worlds we would like to exist in, the worlds that go past dreams and the tangible. We will explore worldbuilding not as escapism but by envisioning the possibility of a better world and everything that stretches the confines of reality.

We will be reading, analyzing, and deconstructing the works from FIYAH Lit Mag, Black Quantum Futurism, This is how you stay alive by Shingai Nero Kagunda, and elements in various middle-grade books. By analyzing and implementing in our own writing, the goal of the class is to inspire the conception of a world in your new or in progress work with a series of prompts, resources, and grounding.

Class Format

This class will take place using Zoom videoconferencing. About 15 minutes before your class is scheduled to begin, you'll receive an email from your instructor with a link to join the class meeting!
