Short Fiction Essentials Series: Generating the Idea and Committing to It
110.00
Where do you begin when you write a short story? Right here! This course is perfect for folks who don’t have the time for one of our multi-week courses but would like to study the essentials of creating short fiction. In this first section of our Short Fiction Essentials Series, we will start at the very beginning by discussing our current methods for generating ideas and completing fun prompts intended to get your creative juices flowing. We’ll find inspiration through a series of guided exercises and short readings that will help us start forming our ideas into scenes. Finally, we’ll informally workshop our new ideas. Students should arrive with notebooks and/or laptops (and any writing supplies you may need). Expect to leave with a great story idea (or two) that is full and complex enough to sustain a compelling narrative.
Part of GrubStreet's Short Fiction Essentials Series, a series dedicated to the craft and process of writing short fiction from start to finish. For more of this series' offerings, click here.
