In Spanish, the word querencia captures the fact that "home" can be many things, from a physical place to more of a feeling; there's a longing there, and what better way to explore that variety and yearning than in our craft? Whether you write fiction, non-fiction, or poetry, a strong setting in general can make a good piece of writing great. What or where do you call home? What about your characters? What happens when we're far away from home, or it changes over time? In this workshop, we'll look at ways to use the essence of querencia in your work. Together, we'll brainstorm definitions of home in a group discussion, then we'll break off to do some writing of our own.
