Master Scriptwriting for Stage & Screen
630.00
Ready to work with professional actors to bring your script to life? Want to get your script produced, get an agent, or apply for an MFA program? In this intensive forum, you will polish and complete a full-length screenplay or play. The course will be divided by discipline and combine peer workshops with lectures, writing exercises, and in-depth analysis of several classic plays/screenplays. The last half of the course offers each writer the opportunity to workshop their script with professional actors. You will be in the company of other serious writers and two experienced instructors dedicated to giving comprehensive and insightful feedback. Students will receive full written coverage by one of the instructors on their completed scripts.
At the end of the class, writers will participate in a staged reading of a scene from their completed script. The reading will use professional actors and will be performed in front of a live audience. Writers are welcome to invite friends and family to the event. Only students who have taken previous screenplay or playwriting workshops at GrubStreet or elsewhere should apply. Space is limited to 6 students per discipline in order to foster a closer, more intense, and more rigorous learning experience.
The screenwriting portion of the class will be led by Mark Fogarty, and the playwriting portion by Nina Morrison. Brought to you in collaboration with the Boston Center for the Arts. You can learn more about the BCA here.
The deadline to apply for this class has passed. You'll hear back from the reading committee the week of December 15th.
*Note: This class will run for ten weeks, plus the showcase of student work on April 2nd, 2015.
