This workshop is for advanced poets who want to develop new content and deepen their craft. We’ll explore the building blocks of poetry: words, lines, stanzas, rhythm and rhyme, as they manifest in our own work and that of accomplished mentor poets. We’ll write and revise ten poems and discuss making work public via readings, online and print submissions, and chapbooks. Poets whose works we explore may include Franny Choi, francine j. harris, Kevin Young, Li-Young Lee, Ocean Vuong, Ellen Bryant Voight, Chen Chen, Robert Hayden and Gwendolyn Brooks.
This class is by submission only and previous workshop experience is essential. Space is limited to nine poets.
The application deadline for this class is Friday, August 23rd, 11:59PM EST.
The payment deadline for admitted students is Monday, September 2nd.
