This workshop is for advanced poets who want to develop new content and deepen their craft. We’ll explore the building blocks of poetry: words, lines, stanzas, rhythm and rhyme, as they manifest in our own work and that of accomplished mentor poets. We’ll write and revise ten poems and discuss making work public via readings, online and print submissions, and chapbooks. Poets whose works we explore may include Ada Limon, Ross Gay, Lucille Clifton, Li-Young Lee, Sharon Olds, Tony Hoagland, Solmaz Sharif, Danez Smith, Naomi Shihab Nye and Yusef Komunyaaka.

Please note: Class does not meet on July 22nd.

This class is by submission only and previous workshop experience is essential. Space is limited to nine poets.

Important dates:

The application deadline for this class has been EXTENDED to Monday, May 27th.

The payment deadline for admitted students is Thursday, May 30th.
