Literary Magazines: a 360 Degree View
With over 600 literary magazines in print in the US, where do you begin to find the literary magazines that will be a home to your writing or simply the ones that you like to read? This class will delve deeply into the not so little magazine scene, using 4 prominent literary magazines as the basis for learning how to discern brand identity and unwritten submission guidelines. As a class we will interview an editor from each literary magazine to gain a behind-the-scenes view of their resources, priorities, and decision-making. In addition to developing a richer understanding of the literary magazine world, you'll leave this class feeling less intimidated by it, and more personally engaged in it, because literary magazines, after all, are curated by writers for writers.
NOTE: The class price includes the cost of four literary journals (total of $44), which will be provided to you by the instructor.
