Short films offer screenwriters the opportunity to introduce their story concepts, demonstrate their writing skills, and collaborate with directors and fellow creatives in the industry—without breaking the bank. In "Kickstarting your Short Film," students will learn to tell a complete, engaging, and visually compelling story in 5-10 pages. We will explore basic elements of screenwriting, including genre, structure, character and story development. Along the way, the class will watch and discuss an array of short films by award-winning filmmakers, which may include but are not limited to Meryam Joobeur (Tunisia/Syria), Marshall Curry (USA), Carolina Markowicz (Brazil), Irene Moray (Spain), Charles Williams (Australia) and Matthew A. Cherry (USA).

Class Format

This class will take place using Zoom videoconferencing. About 15 minutes before your class is scheduled to begin, you'll receive an email from your instructor with a link to join the class meeting!
