Intermediate Playwriting - Remote!
365.00
Playwrights, are you looking for an encouraging community of writers to develop an early draft of a play? This workshop is best for intermediate and advanced playwrights who wish to engage in a more rigorous, supportive environment. Using the Liz Lerman Critical Response Process, workshops will aim to nurture the growth of a play early in development. Feel free to workshop any length of a finished draft: full-length, ten minute, and/or one act play. This workshop is best suited for those with a first or second draft of a play. Each session will include in-class writing experiments, as well as a group discussion about an assigned play excerpt. We will read and discuss these scenes like thieves, not academics. All reading excerpts will be provided. We will read playwrights including, but not limited to: Dipika Guha, Jocelyn Bioh, Mike Lew, Kristoffer Diaz, Martyna Majok, and Branden Jacobs-Jenkins.
Please Note: Class will not meet on April 21st (Muse Conference).
This class will be hosted using live Zoom meetings! You will be able to participate in class via Zoom videoconference from wherever you’re most comfortable. All you’ll need is a laptop or a phone! About 15 minutes before your class is scheduled to begin, you'll receive an email from your instructor with a link to join the class meeting via Zoom–no need to download anything or sign up for Zoom in advance! If you have questions about remote learning, please feel free to reach out to [email protected] for more information.
For a glimpse at how remote learning works, look no further than the deep Zoom discussion of writing and literature below:
