Have you always wanted to write young adult and/or middle grade novels but don’t know where to start? Maybe you have a fun idea, but need some guidance in how to begin? In this class, we will look at work by Roald Dahl, Neil Gaiman, J.K. Rowling, Sherman Alexie and others to see what makes these genres so compelling. From there, we will take your ideas and write a synopsis, outline chapters, begin developing characters, and even write a beginning, scene, or opening of a short chapter to get you started. You will leave class with a plan, and material to get going on the book you’ve been wanting to write!
