Decolonizing Your Curriculum
Please note: This session is open to GrubStreet instructors only. This session will also be recorded.
Paramount to decolonizing your curriculum is a belief that WE get to define and shape what "the cannon" truly is. This means we must diversify what we read— as teachers, writers, and individuals—so that we can create deliberately dynamic and diverse reading lists.
In this 90 minute Grub Instructors workshop, we will discuss concepts that tend to come up when decolonizing your curriculum, like:
- What are the nuts and bolts of creating a diverse reading list?
- What do I do when writing includes offensive language?
- Trigger warnings: a yes, a no, a maybe, and why?
Please come with samples of writing you like to share in your classes, as part of the goal is to share resources.
This class will take place using Zoom videoconferencing. About 15 minutes before your class is scheduled to begin, you'll receive an email from your instructor with a link to join the class meeting!
