Artist Statements for Creative Writers
75.00
As a writer in the 21st century, you will need some incarnation of an artist statement on your author web page, residency applications, and for grant and fellowship applications. This is your opportunity to demonstrate that you are a thoughtful, deliberate writer who takes their literary career seriously. This statement speaks for you on grant, fellowship, grad school, conference, and residency applications.
In this seminar, learn how to cast your work in its strongest, most evocative light. You will read several statement examples; learn how they are used; and then craft, workshop, and revise several drafts of your own statement. You will complete a series of writing exercises to generate ideas about how to talk about your work. We'll polish your statement until it is ready to impress.
You should be computer-savvy and comfortable sharing work-in-progress with your workshop peers.
Class Format
This class will take place using Zoom videoconferencing. About 15 minutes before your class is scheduled to begin, you'll receive an email from your instructor with a link to join the class meeting!
