6 Weeks, 6 Stories
370.00
Whether you want to expand your knowledge, experiment with new forms, or just produce fresh work, this fun, intensive class will give you the opportunity, over six weeks, to write six new short stories (300 to 1000 words—also known as flash fiction) or write new material as a basis for longer work. Each week, we will submit a short piece of fiction to the group to read and share feedback through writer-centered workshops.
We'll also explore elements of craft such as plot, style, character, theme, setting, and point of view through in class writing exercises. And as a mode of analysis for our own work, we'll discuss published pieces by masters of the short form such as Mia Alvar, John Keene, Carmen Maria Machado, and Justin Torres.
Please Note: Class does not meet on August 17th.
Class Format
This class will take place using Zoom videoconferencing. About 15 minutes before your class is scheduled to begin, you'll receive an email from your instructor with a link to join the class meeting!
